SNK Playmore have confirmed four new characters for The King Of Fighters XIV, along with a handful of new stages in one single – very meaty – announcement.
Producer for the long-running beat ’em up series, Yasuyuki Oda spilled the beans in a post on Sony’s PlayStation blog earlier today, revealing a brand new character along with three returning favorites. Maxima, Clark Still and Terry Bogard are members of the latter, with newcomer King Of Dinosaurs being the former.
Check out the blurb for each of them below.
King of Dinosaurs
An evil and mysterious “heel” (a.k.a. a “rudo” in lucha libre) wrestler who wears a tyrannosaurus mask appears! Is he about to devour all the veteran fighters? Human or beast? Who hides behind the mask?!
Along with King of Dinosaurs, following our recent reveal of a newly designed, sexy Robert and Benimaru, the team and I are pleased to let fans know that Maxima, Clark, and Terry will be returning to the KOF Tournament once again…
The mechanized body returns to battle! Powerful enough to be a huge Guard Point, he is a true marvel of NESTS Technology!
After a bit of a “diet,” this Ikari Warrior returns to the ring as well. Could it have been thanks to Heidern’s Boot Camp? Mastering a variety of grappling moves, Clark is back and ready to break some backs.
“Get in the Ring!” The original Hungry Wolf and favorite of Fatal Fury fans can’t be missed!
Confirmation of the two new stages Guanajuato Dynamite Ring and Derelict Church round off the announcement nicely, with Oda signing off by asking fans to look out for upcoming events and venues where fans will be able to get an early hands-on with the title.
The King Of Fighters XIV is just one of a bunch of fighters releasing throughout 2016. Bandai Namco’s Pokken Tournament is due out for Wii U in March, with Tekken 7 also expected to get its first home console release at some point this year too. Capcom’s Street Fighter V released this week, too, but the game has come under fire since release for having a lack of content to supplement its excellent gameplay. You can read our review of it right here.
