Contrary to previous reports, it appears LEGO The Hobbit will not be getting DLC based on The Battle of the Five Armies.
Rumors of the proposed DLC first started floating around during the April 2014 launch of LEGO The Hobbit. With the game covering the first two parts of Peter Jackson’s adaptation of the book, it was expected that Traveller’s Tales would want to wrap things up as things end on a “To be continued,” note.
Unfortunately, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that there are currently no plans to develop DLC based around The Battle of the Five Armies.
The LEGO The Hobbit videogame gives LEGO and Middle-earth fans a fun, new way to experience the legendary adventures of Bilbo and company as told in the first two films of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy. The game provides an excellent set-up for the concluding chapter of Peter Jackson’s film, The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. There are no plans to develop DLC based on the final film of the trilogy.
With little news being released since the title first launched, it’s not surprising that there are no further plans for LEGO The Hobbit. Ultimately, it seems like there was little reason for Warner Bros. to pump out additional DLC for the title. Perhaps the fact that the content would have had to have been made for a variety of different platforms played a role in the decision as well.
