With E3 now in our collective rear-view mirror, game companies are already dusting themselves off and prepping for the next major event: Gamescom in Cologne. Fresh off its impressive showcase a fortnight ago, Microsoft has confirmed it will host its annual press event on Tuesday, August 4 at the fan-favorite trade show.

Available to watch on a variety of platforms including Xbox One, Xbox 360, Xbox.com and Windows Phone, the conference itself “will show off many of the games coming to Xbox One, including titles like Scalebound, Quantum Break, and Crackdown.”

Phil Spencer made reference to this formant trio during Microsoft’s E3 presser, excusing their absence and asking fans to be excited about their appearance at Gamescom. We expect Remedy to nail down a release date for Quantum Break, though it’s seem unlikely that Scalebound and Crackdown will be privy to the same treatment. Time will tell, of course.

Considering that Sony has opted to skip the Cologne event in favor of the Paris Games Week in October, Microsoft is expected to enjoy little-to-no competition when it assumes control of the limelight in five weeks’ time. It’s no secret that the Redmond-based giant holds almost all of the major players going into the holiday seasonHalo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 6 and the timed-exclusive hold on Rise of the Tomb Raider – which means that it’s more than likely the Gamescom showing will bring attention to the publisher’s slate at the beginning of 2016.

Stay tuned for more updates as Microsoft gears up for its annual Gamescom presser, as we’ll have all the information for you here as it happens on Tuesday, August 4.
