Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, the recently announced follow-up to the hit toy-based title Disney Infinity, is currently scheduled for release later this fall. Marvel and Disney fanatics alike can now get another taste at what to expect from the game, via a new promotional trailer showcasing the Avengers in action, as well as additional details pertaining to the sequel’s story mode.

The game will sport a new, original storyline penned by Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis, which looks to be taking some inspiration from the 2012 Avengers film. Much like that smash hit, the campaign included in the game’s starter pack will see Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow teaming up with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. to stop Loki’s attempt at conquering New York City. As the story progresses, our heroes will discover that Loki is not working alone, and that earth’s fate may be at stake.

Besides the campaign, the trademark free-form Toy Box mode from the first game will also make its return, enabling creative players to make their own worlds and missions from scratch with hundreds of unique items and materials, all while controlling the various Marvel characters. Much like the original Disney Infinity, characters are unlocked via purchasing real-life toy figurines and placing them on a USB base. Iron Man, Thor, and Black Widow figurines will ship with the game, while the rest will be made available through retail outlets.

We will keep you updated on Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes as more news drops. Until then, check out the new trailer and let us what you’re hoping to see from this upcoming game in the comments section below.
