Danny Boyle Will Return To The 28 Days Later Franchise

After a step in the wrong direction with 28 Weeks Later, it looks like the franchise is getting back on track. It was reported today that Danny Boyle, the man behind 28 Days Later, and the director of hits like Slumdog Millionaire and the upcoming 127 Hours, will get behind the camera for the next installment of the franchise.

After a step in the wrong direction with 28 Weeks Later, it looks like the franchise is getting back on track. It was reported today that Danny Boyle, the man behind 28 Days Later, and hits like Slumdog Millionaire, will get behind the camera for the next installment of the franchise.

Dread Central tells us that Boyle’s next film will be a new film for the 28 Days Later franchise. Apparently when asked if he would like to produce the next film in the franchise, Boyle replied “Actually I want to direct it.” If this does turn out to be true then it’s good news. While 28 Weeks Later wasn’t a bad movie, it was nowhere near as good as Boyle’s 28 Days Later. They’re both good films, but Boyle’s entry into the series was far superior.

As a big fan of the series, I really hope we get some more news on the future of the franchise soon. I’d love to see Boyle behind the camera and I’m very curious to see where he’ll take the series.
