Darth Vader Will Have A Role In Han Solo Spinoff

Is Darth Vader about to make yet another appearance on the big screen via the upcoming Han Solo spinoff? It certainly looks that way.

When it comes to on-screen villains, few antagonists hold a candle to Darth Vader.

Voiced by James Earl Jones, the rasping, all-powerful Sith Lord has been a fixture of the Star Wars universe for generations, and even returned to the silver screen quite recently thanks to the launch of Gareth Edwards’ anthology pic. Often imitated but never quite equaled, Vader set the bar high for his fellow screen villains, but it seems that we haven’t seen the last of him. Far from it, in fact.

If you recall, a few months back, sources close to the production claimed that Spencer Wilding, who portrayed the physical Vader in last year’s Rogue One – was involved in the Han Solo spinoff, and while the official story was that he was playing a different character, it appears that that’s simply not the case. Or at least, it’s not if you choose to believe this new report from That Hashtag Show.

According to them, “someone in Darth Vader armor was seen on the set for reshoots.” They don’t know how significant the scenes being shot with the iconic villain are, or how they’ll factor into the film, but it does appear that the character will indeed be making his presence felt in the upcoming spinoff. If we had to guess, it won’t be too large of a role, but given that we still know next to nothing about the project, it’s hard to say.

The so-far untitled Han Solo Anthology pic has a release date of May 25th, 2018. Prior to the appointment of J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: Episode IX was slated for a similar pre-summer corridor, but has since relocated to December 20th, 2019 where it’ll give Wonder Woman 2 a run for its money.

As for this new report on Vader, we’ll let you know once we hear of something official, but in the meantime, feel free to speculate on how you think he may be incorporated into the movie in the comments section below.
