Holy Sh…ark! The 13 Worst Horror Movies Of 2014

Every year I joke about how quickly time passes, as I can still vividly remember exclaiming how Dracula 3D would undoubtedly be the worst horror film I'd see in ages, but here we are at the end of 2014, agonizing over what could be one of the worst year-end recaps I've had to write since joining We Got This Covered. There were some very good horror movies released this year, but where I only awarded a single 1-star review last year, 2014 saw three in the horror genre alone. Seriously. Dracula 3D was last year's stinkiest turd sandwich, but this year offered three different efforts that left me begging for salvation.

Every year I joke about how quickly time passes, as I can still vividly remember exclaiming how Dracula 3D would undoubtedly be the worst horror film I’d see in ages, but here we are at the end of 2014, agonizing over what could be one of the worst year-end recaps I’ve had to write since joining We Got This Covered. There were some very good horror movies released this year, but where I only awarded a single 1-star review last year, 2014 saw three in the horror genre alone. Seriously. Dracula 3D was last year’s stinkiest turd sandwich, but this year offered three different efforts that left me begging for salvation.

The theme this year seemed to be found footage follies, as a solid five selections (or six, depending on what webchatting is classified as) were dominated by atrocious first-person-camera blunders, from inept pacing to nonsensical character actions. Don’t get me wrong, there were some absolutely brilliant found footage horror films screened in 2014 as well, but for every Afflicted, I found a Hangar 10. There was no fair balance this year, just gut-punch after gut-punch as far as fake video evidence was concerned.

What can I say, this list has it all! Some Bigfoot wannabes, sexy demonic possessions, evil babies, sharks, Tim Curry – consider this a calculated list of the crimes committed against horror this year. I saw A LOT of horror movies, upwards of a hundred and ten or so, so don’t think I’m stretching for titles here. Each one of these spots is valiantly earned, and while I hate to point fingers, some sins just can’t be forgiven thanks to the following crapshoots. Don’t worry, I’ll redeem myself with a “Best Of” list for 2014 all-too-soon, but let me get a few things off my chest first.

Let’s take a look at the thirteen worst horror films of 2014 and see if some of your least favorite made the cut!
