Peter Dinklage’s Avengers: Infinity War Role Possibly Revealed

Despite Marvel Studios dispatching promotional materials at an impressive (and frankly, journalistically exhausting) rate, there's still quite a lot we don't know about the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. For example, did you know Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is playing a major role in the film? In all the hubbub I'd completely forgotten, and while who exactly he's playing remains to be seen, the latest clip, which premiered on Good Morning Britain, might just have given us a clue.

For example, did you know Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is playing a major role in the film? In all the hubbub I’d completely forgotten, and while who exactly he’s portraying remains to be seen, the latest clip, which premiered on Good Morning Britain, might just have given us a clue.

The footage (seen below) shows Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson), and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) facing off with two members of Thanos’ Black Order, Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight. At one point, after taking an almighty Falcon kick, we hear Corvus Glaive utter a few lines, and he sounds suspiciously like Dinklage. That he’d be voicing the CGI character also fits in with comments the Russo brothers made a while back, saying that we’d recognize the actor in the movie, but that “it might take you a beat or two.”

If we’re right here, then Dinklage would be joining Terry Notary’s Cull Obsidian, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor’s Ebony Maw (which sounds extremely porn-y), and Carrie Coon’s Proxima Midnight. Not a bad roster, eh?

In the comics, Corvus Glaive is the leader of the Black Order, famed for his combat mastery and tactical genius. Worryingly for the Avengers, he’s also functionally immortal thanks to his weapon, a glaive that allows him to survive practically any injury – not to mention being able to slice through any known thing (and person) in the universe. Don’t get too attached to that new shield, Cap.

We’ll find out for certain whether Dinklage is in the role when the film is released next week, though based on this clip I think we can pretty conclusively close the book on this particular casting mystery. Either way, I’ll see you on opening night for Avengers: Infinity War.
