Ever since he first stepped into the iconic role of Luke Skywalker over 40 years ago, Mark Hamill‘s been a pop culture icon and one of the most beloved actors out there. For fans of Star Wars, he’s more or less a king, but even for just casual moviegoers and the general public, he’s a well respected and admired performer, one who’s got numerous credits under his belt that make up what’s been a hugely successful career.

Aside from his role in that galaxy far, far away, Hamill’s also quite well known for voicing the Joker in numerous animated efforts from DC, leading many to proclaim him as their favorite version of the Clown Prince of Crime, even rivalling the work that Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger did in the role. Furthermore, the actor’s also appeared on stage several times, finding much success in the process.

So, with all of that in mind, it’s really no surprise to learn today that Mark Hamill will be honored with his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018. Along with fellow Disney talent like Lin-Manuel Miranda and Zoe Saldana, among others, the Star Wars actor will receive the honor at some point next year, though there’s no exact date on when it’ll happen just yet. Regardless, it’s great to see him getting his own star as his tremendously impressive body of work more than proves that he deserves one.

Up next for Mark Hamill is, of course, a key role in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which blasts into theatres on December 15th.
