It’s hard for most to imagine that anyone would question Van Buuren’s trance credentials. The “Falling In and Out of Love” producer stands out as the only artist to secure the DJ Mag #1 spot five times, and his A State of Trance radio show reaches thousands upon thousands of listeners. Nonetheless, his Gaia side project aims to satisfy the more discerning tastes of “pure trance” enthusiasts. Donning robes, he and De Goeij play sets that push 140 BPM – a throwback to the days when trance was closer to its stylistic mother genres techno and hardstyle.
