Nicki Minaj poses for photos at a New Hampshire polling station. Then her lawyers ask a judge for $295,605 she allegedly owes: ‘I Lied’

That's not a good look for the rapper, and her political allies in extension.

Nicki Minaj faces a new legal demand for $295,605 in unpaid fees just as her recent political activity keeps her in the news. Her former legal team, Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, filed a renewed request in Los Angeles court on Tuesday to collect money they claim she owes for work on a copyright case, as reported by Danchell Mag. This filing arrived almost at the same time the artist appeared at a polling station in Derry, New Hampshire.

The law firm alleges that the rapper breached their agreement regarding a dispute over the song ‘I Lied’. The legal work centered on accusations that Minaj copied the beat and instrumentation from a track titled onmysleeve by Julius Johnson. While that case concluded in a private settlement and reached a dismissal, the firm maintains that its invoice remains unpaid.

The lawyers state that Minaj has not responded to their lawsuit in any way since they first filed the action in March. Because more than 30 days have passed since she received notice, they are now asking the Los Angeles County Superior Court to issue a default award. A hearing regarding this request is set for November 16.

Minaj spent her Tuesday in New Hampshire with a police escort

She posed for photos next to a campaign sign for Anthony DiLorenzo, a Republican candidate for Congress who received an endorsement from President Donald Trump. DiLorenzo ultimately lost his race to Democrat Stefany Shaheen.

This appearance followed a rally in Michigan one week earlier where Minaj flew on Air Force One. During that event, she led the crowd in a chant stating, “We love Trump.” She also addressed the audience by saying, “We don’t want our children to be bombarded with sex changes, right?” She additionally offered to back President Trump if he ever sought a third term.

President Trump acknowledged the artist during the Michigan rally. “By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful a**** before: Nicki Minaj! That’s hard to miss,” he said from the stage. While aboard the plane, Minaj filmed a mock interview where she acted as the White House press secretary. She described President Trump as “a great guy” and “a sharp businessman who had won three elections.”

It is worth noting that President Trump has won two elections. This political alignment marks a shift for the artist who previously stated she would never endorse him. The political outcomes on Tuesday were not favorable for the President or his allies, as Democrats secured control of both the House and the Senate.

Financial disputes have surfaced for the artist in the past. In January, she avoided a court-ordered sale of her $20 million Los Angeles home by paying a $500,000 default judgment. That case involved a security guard who accused her husband, Kenneth Petty, of assault during a 2019 concert in Germany. The payment was made only after the situation reached a critical point.

Her former lawyers appear to be using a similar strategy to apply pressure regarding the outstanding invoice. The upcoming hearing on November 16 will determine if the court grants the full amount requested by the firm.

Representatives for Minaj did not respond to requests for comment regarding the filing.
