Kid Cudi Drops Self-Directed “Frequency” Music Video

Kid Cudi may be going through some hard times right now, but when he said that it wouldn’t be getting in the way of his album cycle, he meant it. What he’s going through could be considered more than “hard times” though – the rapper checked himself into rehab following an ongoing battle with depression, and while we wish him the best in terms of his health, he’s still kept things moving with new music.

The music video for his track “Frequency” was revealed today, and it shows Cudi at his weirdest. Wandering around a forest, Cudi runs into some even weirder women. The tone for the video is dark and dreary, and at a lot of points, you can barely tell what’s going on. The rapper directed the video himself, though, so instead of being critical about it, it’s probably fair just to chalk it up as part of his creative vision.

“Frequency” is taken off Kid Cudi’s upcoming album, Passion, Pain, & Demon Slayin’, which was recently delayed to a currently unknown date. Regardless of when it releases, judging by “Frequency” and another new song out, “Surfin’,” it seems as though the record’s got the potential to serve as a respectable follow-up to his last record, Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven.
