The Weeknd Talks Making Starboy And Performance Anxiety

We're just a few hours away now from The Weeknd's new album Starboy, and anticipation is through the roof. Over the past few months, the singer has been teasing us with song after song (and even a short film), giving us just a taste of the 18 tracks that'll be on the disc. Now, the wait has almost come to an end, and to tide you over for these last few hours, we've got a new interview to share that Abel did this week with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 to promote the upcoming effort.

We’re just a few hours away now from The Weeknd‘s new album Starboy, and anticipation is through the roof. Over the past few months, the singer has been teasing us with song after song (and even a short film), giving us just a taste of the 18 tracks that’ll be on the disc. Now, the wait has almost come to an end, and to tide you over for these last few hours, we’ve got a new interview to share that Abel did this week with Zane Lowe on Beats 1.

During their discussion, a number of topics were touched upon, including the collaboration with Kendrick Lamar (who he calls a genius), working with Daft Punk, performance anxiety, sobriety and, of course, cutting that hair of his.

“It wasn’t just a random Kendrick Lamar verse,” said Abel while speaking about the collab. “It was something special because, again, I don’t like to say this all the time, but we’ve known each other for a while and it’s crazy how we started connecting on this record.”

All in all, it’s an interesting, if all too brief look into the mind of one of music’s most exciting artists, and we can’t wait to see the full thing when it drops at midnight along with the album.

While you count down those last few hours until you can get your hands on Abel’s latest full-length, check out a few select clips from the Zane Lowe interview below and be sure to stay tuned to We Got This Covered, as we’ll have our complete review on The Weeknd‘s Starboy for you shortly.
