The first in a series of announcements guaranteed to stir the Japanese electronic music community has arrived. Ultra Japan succeeded in drawing the highest attendance of any EDM festival in the country with its inaugural 2014 edition, and while its organizers certainly upped the ante last year, the phase 1 lineup announcement for the 2016 installment looks even more promising.
The names Hardwell, deadmau5 and Martin Garrix take up prime real estate on Ultra Japan 2016’s phase 1 lineup. Nero, DJ Snake and Tiësto are directly below them, with Jauz and Marshmello rounding it out with some degree of bass head appeal.
Being that most of the names revealed in the announcement echo those of Ultra Europe’s 2016 lineup, music fans ought to reference its recent phase 2 lineup announcement to get an idea of what artists might be added to the roster in the coming months.
