Sleepy Hollow Pilot May Find A Home At The CW

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow has been remade before, but now it's getting an update. The latest project from Missing writers Patrick Macmanus and Grant Scharbo aims to update the classic story as the two writers plan to develop it into a pilot that will hopefully be picked up by The CW. The network is known best for leading the way in teen drama television, so I'm guessing the horror level will be more on par with Supernatural than Tales From The Crypt.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow has been remade before, but now it’s getting an update.

The latest project from Missing writers Patrick Macmanus and Grant Scharbo aims to update the classic story as the two writers plan to develop it into a pilot that will hopefully be picked up by The CW. The network is known best for leading the way in teen drama television, so I’m guessing the horror level will be more on par with Supernatural than Tales From The Crypt.

This contemporary take will cast Ichabod Crane as a swarthy, gun-toting FBI agent. Crane finds himself in the small town of Sleepy Hollow as part of the investigation into a beheading.

Sleepy Hollow is not attached to any studio yet, but producers Gina Matthews (Missing), Aaron Berger and Carina Schulze have pitched the pilot to The CW already.

This comes on the tail of news that another Sleepy Hollow pilot is in development. The secondary project is aimed at a more adult demographic. Rumors have it that the production team of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are pitching networks like FOX, CBS, ABC, and NBC.

The idea of turning Sleepy Hollow into a series is definitely an interesting concept, especially if The CW is looking for a slightly darker show to add to its lineup. Since the network cancelled The Secret Circle after its first season, and with Supernatural heading into season 8, it’s only a matter of time before they need to fill a targeted slot.
