For the first time ever in the series’ history, a DOOM game is to be 100 per cent uncut in Germany, a territory notorious for censoring violence in video games.
The announcement was made on Twitter with a rather strange video…

Just in case there was any doubt in your mind as to what exactly the vague footage is alluding too, Bethesda’s UK community manager hammered home what it is exactly that the video is celebrating.

Since the series burst to life in a shower of red mist, grotesque monsters and gore galore back in 1993, the first-person shooter has been blamed for practically every bad thing you can think of, including inciting violence in children, school shootings and promoting Satanism.
Never a studio to be deterred by such accusations, id Software is back with a reboot for the series, more than twenty decades after the release of the original game that, many would agree, is one of the most iconic of all time.
There’s not too long left to wait now for the shooter to release. DOOM hits PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 13, and if you pre-order the digital version on Xbox One, you’ll get Doom and Doom 2 for free as part of the console’s backwards compatibility feature.
