Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. May Signal The Return Of Blade

MCU Exchange has unearthed a tweet suggesting that Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. will soon swing its doors open to Blade. Yes, that Blade.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Blade are two Marvel properties that we never thought would belong in the same sentence – let alone the same TV series. And yet here we are.

MCU Exchange has unearthed a Tweet from Lorraine Cink, YouTube host and senior creative producer, that alludes to a possible Blade cameo in Marvel’s small-screen superhero show. No, really.

Remember, this is the same drama that offered a bold new spin on Ghost Rider, so perhaps Eric Brooks has been earmarked for a future instalment? What’s particularly interesting about this report is that MCU Exchange alludes to a second Tweet from Cink that has since been deleted, so we aren’t quite sure what the prominent YouTuber was referring to.

Nevertheless, providing the stars align and Cink is implying a future crossover in 2018, incorporating a character like Blade into ABC’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. would be an ambitious, if contentious move. The film rights to everyone’s favorite vampire hunter originally reverted back to Marvel in 2012, and though Kevin Feige has consistently cooled rumors of a potential reboot, it’s really a question of when Blade will return, rather than if.

As for the how, Lorraine Cink may be onto something:

No further details were disclosed, which leaves us feeling more skeptical than excited. And then there’s the small matter of Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox and all its assets. That historic takeover was made official just last week, during which time CEO Bob Iger hinted at the possibility of R-rated Marvel projects flickering into life at some point in the future.

Couple this with Disney’s planned streaming service, which is due to go live in 2019 with a live-action Star Wars show, and fans are quietly rooting for Blade to be resurrected then – not as some disposable subplot in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s still early days, of course, and it’s unclear if Lorraine Cink’s assertions will hold true. But we live in the hope that an Eric Brooks revival is coming…soon.
