The latest issue of Game Informer features the upcoming game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. As expected, we now have a ton of new info on the game. Details on everything from the story, to the weapons to the game’s engine have been revealed. The story is set in Skyrim, which is north of Cyrodil. The game will take place 200 years after the events of Oblivion and will have you playing as a dragon hunter named Dragonborn. It should also be noted that there is a civil war going on due to the death of the king.
Known enemies include zombies, skeletons, trolls, giants, ice wraiths, giant spiders, dragons, wolves, horses Elk, mammoth and saber-toothed cats, but you can expect there to be a lot more. Due to the game’s new engine, snow will fall dynamically and trees will carry more detail. The flow of water will be determined by the wind and dynamic shadows will be present.
Weapons are said to be more dynamic, with the option to duel wield and perform unique finishing moves. The five schools of magic will be Destruction, Alteration, Conjuration, Restoration and Illusion and Enchanting will now be a skill, replacing Mysticism.
The game will feature five huge cities, all offering tons of activities. New activities include, cooking, farming, mining, woodcutting and blacksmithing. When it comes to skills, you can choose from 18, and like in Fallout 3, the game will have a Perks system. NPC’s have also been improved, sporting better interaction and more dynamic actions.
Quests are also said to be more dynamic, with the inclusion of randomly generated quests and quests tailored to your preferences.

Lastly, in terms of the player, you’ll have 10 races to choose from and your class will be determined by your skills. You will also have the option to sprint.
So there you have it, a ton of new info on Skyrim, which so far, is looking like it will be better than Oblivion.
