The Book Of Boba Fett Star Says There’s Been No Talk Of A Season 2

The rapid expansion of Disney Plus is set to see the streamer deliver over 100 original projects on an annual basis, with Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe positioned right at the forefront. There are currently a multitude of episodic shows set in a galaxy far, far away in various stages of production and development, but next out of the gate will be December's The Book of Boba Fett.

Temuera Morrison’s hotly-anticipated move into leading man status has already been described as The Mandalorian Season 2.5, and that’s been reflected in the choice of directors. Executive producers Robert Rodriguez, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are all helming at least one episode each, while Mando alum Bryce Dallas Howard is additionally returning behind the camera.

In terms of aesthetic it should also be pretty similar to Din Djarin’s adventures, with the titular antihero a no-nonsense bounty hunter poised to head out on a quest that’ll more than likely incorporate some well-known Star Wars iconography. As one of the franchise’s biggest cult heroes, Boba Fett is someone audiences have never tired of, but in a new interview Morrison admitted he hasn’t heard anything about a potential second season.

“I think they’ll have to consider some things. The tree is still growing. They’ll probably want to test the waters first, there’s been no talk about it.”

Looking at the slate of titles on their way to Disney Plus, The Book of Boba Fett jumps out as one of the few that could realistically run for years. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor and Lando are very much locked into their places on the timeline, whereas The Acolyte and Ahsoka could feasibly tell stories that run for any number of seasons. Let’s just get the opening run of episodes out of the way first, but should it play as well as The Mandalorian, then more bounty hunting content is incredibly likely.
