‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ still on track for November release

Cameras are officially rolling again on Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, with star Letitia Wright having now recovered from the injury that proved to be more serious than initially thought, necessitating a shutdown of the entire production that lasted for weeks.

Having been forced to contend with both the pandemic and an unexpected hiatus, nobody would be all that surprised were Wakanda Forever to be pushed back even further, having already fallen victim to the wide-ranging Phase Four reshuffles more than once.

However, The Hollywood Reporter offers that another delay isn’t forthcoming, with the follow-up to the first superhero blockbuster to ever land an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture still penciled in for November 11. That should assuage any concerns the fans may have, but Ryan Coogler and his team will need to hit the ground running in order to get the project across the finish line with enough time to luxuriate in the post-production process.

Of course, should any more misfortune befall Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it could yet end up being shunted to 2023. Let’s hope that doesn’t turn out to be the case, though, because there’s already enough pressure on the comic book adaptation as it is given the seismic critical, commercial, and cultural footprint left by its predecessor.
