There will never come a time when diehard Harry Potter fans won’t re-watch the beloved classic in its entirety. As a new generation of kids learn about “the boy who lived” and his epic quest to vanquish “He Who Must Not Be Named,” the movies continue to live on beyond their first iteration of fans.
The first book, The Sorcerer’s Stone (or The Philosopher’s Stone in the United Kingdom), was published in 1997, followed by the movie adaptation in 2001. Magic never dies in the Wizarding World, which means this timeless classic will never truly go out of fashion. Whether you want to spend a hot summer afternoon languishing under Mr. and Mrs. Dursley’s windowsill, or enjoy a snowy weekend morning studying for exams with Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the Great Hall, there’s always a time and place for a good ol’ re-watch.
In the past, that hasn’t always been easy. Those who don’t own physical copies of the DVDs or Blu-rays have had to scour several streaming platforms to feast their eyes on all eight films. Over the years, the movies have earned a reputation for apparating from one platform and reappearing on another, and that’s not changing now that a reboot of the series is in development.
Where is Harry Potter streaming?
All aboard! The Hogwarts Express will now be departing Platform 9 3/4 and making its way over to NBC Universal’s streaming platform, Peacock. That’s right — all eight Harry Potter films are under one roof after previously dashing under HBO Max’s invisibility cloak repeatedly through 2022 and 2023.
HBO Max, now shortened to just Max, has sported all of the Harry Potter movies and their add-ons at one point or another, but its hold on the series has been sporadic at best. The films could be found on the streamer as recently as early 2023, but its hold on the story didn’t last long.
Were the Harry Potter movies removed from HBO Max?
The Harry Potter series has been jumping back and forth between Max and Peacock for awhile now, but they seem to be staying put — for now. As of March 2024, the films can no longer be streamed on Max, but there is an upside to Wizarding World subscribers. Max does house all of the Fantastic Beasts films, so — while you can’t catch up with Hermione or Draco on the app — at least you can experience some magic without adding Peacock to your subscription list.
Where to stream all the Harry Potter films in the U.K., Ireland, and Australia
For Potterheads residing in Harry’s homeland, all eight Harry Potter films are available to stream on Netflix in the U.K. and Ireland, according to the official Wizarding World website. As for the Fantastic Beasts franchise, you’ll have better luck with Apple TV and Amazon Prime.
Those living in Australia can stream all eight films on Foxtel, Netflix, and Stan. The two Fantastic Beasts are also available on Netflix, however, the third one is only available on Foxtel.
And on that note, it’s time to summon our popcorn, conjure our butterbeer, and extinguish our illuminating wands by whispering the incantation nox. Shh, the movie’s starting.
