The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers suit up and trigger nostalgia in first images from 30th anniversary special

Netflix is making fans' dreams come true in 2023.

Ai-yi-yi, it’s really happening! To celebrate the Power Rangers franchise turning the big 3-0 in 2023, Netflix is marking the milestone occasion with an extra-special anniversary episode that will reunite a range of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers cast. Following on from last October’s initial announcement, the streamer has now dropped our official first look at the special, as well as offering up a release date.

Officially titled Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always (a reference to the oft-used Ranger credo, “Once a Ranger, always a Ranger”), the standalone episode will be hitting Netflix in April. These first-look images confirm that four of the OG MMPR stars will be powering up once more. Namely, David Yost (Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger), Walter Emmanuel Jones (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger), Steve Cardenas (Rocky DeSantos/second Red Ranger), and Catherine Sutherland (Kat Hillard/second Pink Ranger).

Fans have also been treated to a behind-the-scenes featurette that confirms a couple of additional returnees and their roles in the special. Johnny Yong Bosch and Karan Ashley will likewise be back as Adam Park (second Black Ranger) and Aisha Campbell (second Yellow Ranger), respectively. Although it seems they’ve both retired from active Ranger duty and are now S.P.D. officers (a crossover that should please fans of Power Rangers: SPD).

Intriguingly, this featurette also reveals that the full Mighty Morphin team will go into battle together, including the Green Ranger, as played by franchise legend Jason David Frank, who sadly passed away in November 2022. However, Netflix has not made any comment on Frank filming any material for the episode prior to his passing.

Power Rangers fans have precisely three months from now to emotionally prepare themselves for the Mighty Morphin reunion special before it jump-kicks its way onto Netflix this April 19.
