Ingenious MCU theory suggests a bold new career path for Loki

Loki may have a glorious purpose set up for season two.

Not much was revealed about Season 2 of Loki and how the series will play a role in Phase 5 in the MCU. And as far as we know, Loki is still trapped in the TVA and behind-the-scenes photos show that he’s going to continue traveling back in time. But what if there is a reason why he’s still there? Maybe for a glorious purpose? This fan theory sure thinks that is the case.

Reddit user u/TheMediocreCritic shared a theory on r/MarvelStudios, predicting that Loki is the key to stopping the Kang invasion in the TVA. According to OP, Loki will have to go against Sylvie in order to stop the next Multiversal war. At the same time, Loki is destined to become the next “He Who Remains.”

This theory has some legs to stand on, according to fans, especially based on how his character developed throughout the show. Fans added to the theory, suggesting that Loki will finally use his mischief powers for good in order to fix the timelines, as well as deceive people to prevent a future Kang from invading.

Another theory added was that Loki will no longer be alone this time. Instead, he and the other surviving Loki variants will form “a council” in order to get the job done. In the end, Loki is going to be the next “He who remains” according to fan speculation.

Meanwhile, some believe that it’s going to be Wanda or Sylvie that’s going to be the next “he who remains, or in this case, “she who remains” as part of their redemption arc. In the end, it all comes down to who will be the next “protector” of the timeline rather than a controller.

Despite how this story could work, some fans don’t see this plot happening in both Loki and the rest of the MCU. This is mostly due to how Secret Wars was set up in the comics. And based on how the MCU timeline is going, it’s more likely to follow the comic storyline to some degree.

Neither Disney nor Marvel have announced the release date for Loki Season 2. But the show is scheduled to be released in 2023 on Disney Plus. Only then, we’ll figure out what’s next for our mischievous deity.
