Forget ‘Superman: Legacy,’ DC die-hards only care about one Man of Steel as their fate hangs in the balance

Kryptonite and cancelation: Supes' two biggest weaknesses.

You’d think that with James Gunn saying goodbye to Marvel, as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 releases in cinemas, and Superman: Legacy officially entering pre-production, the DC community would only have eyes on the rebooted DCU’s new Man of Steel. However, it seems they’re hardly giving our next Last Son of Krypton a single thought as the fate of an already established and beloved incarnation of Kal-El hangs by a thread.

The CW has wiped out many of its scripted original series since its Nexstar takeover, but a few fan-favorites remain airing on the network, including Superman & Lois — perhaps the most critically acclaimed Arrowverse series of them all that’s currently releasing its third season. Fans are desperate to know if this will be it for the Tyler Hoechlin-fronted show or if it could get lucky and earn itself another renewal, as per the latest intel:

Unfortunately, more CW series falling all the time is not instilling folks with much hope.

Fortunately, Superman is all about hope, so S&L‘s ardent fans are championing the series on Twitter, shouting out its many wonderful qualities in a bid to get The CW to sit up and take notice.

It’s the fact that it’s such a character-driven drama that makes it soar for many people.

Season three, in particular, may just be the best of the lot so far, despite the behind-the-scenes hurdles it had to overcome.

Fingers crossed the fans can do enough to save it before decisions are made just next week.

If the ax does fall on it, maybe Hoechlin’s Clark can fit into the DC Elseworlds projects?

James Gunn, if it does get cancelled, you know what you have to do.

Superman & Lois season three airs new episodes Tuesday on The CW.
