The other day, James Gunn announced that he’d be taking a break from the thankless task of shutting down rampant DC Universe misinformation on Twitter, and while we understand his decision, we’re going to miss seeing the gaffer unleash ruthless facts on internet glory hunters.
Luckily, it looks like the rest of the world’s entertainment pillars are all but ready to step up and take his place, and one Becky Riordan – executive producer of the upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians series for Disney Plus – seems to be leading that charge.
Riordan, the wife of Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan (who also serves as an executive producer), took to Twitter to debunk some false information published by Yahoo! Entertainment earlier this week.
The article claimed that the first season would be made up of six episodes; the truth, as was pointed out, is that it will be made up of eight.
One user pointed out that the mistake likely has to do with the yet-incomplete list of directors; sure enough, a quick glance at the “Episodes” section of the series’ Wikipedia page (at the time of writing) only names James Bobin, Anders Engström, and Jet Wilkinson as directors, with no mention of anyone helming the apparent seventh and eighth episode.
Of course, Rick Riordan confirmed back in April that eight episodes would be on the menu for the Percy Jackson show, and we reckon that anyone keeping tabs on this show is mostly in the know about those particular ins-and-outs anyway. Nevertheless, misinformation is among the internet’s greatest plagues, so we tip our hats to Becky and her quick extermination tactics.
The Percy Jackson and the Olympians television series is due on Disney Plus in 2024.
