Not everyone is keen on watching HBO’s newest series, The Idol due to the amount of drama and controversy it faced before its release. And unfortunately, a standing ovation during its world premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival couldn’t save it from the low reviews it received from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. However, there is one possible reason why this show “might” be worth watching – the acting debut of a K-pop star.

It’s no secret that Jennie will have a role in this latest drama. And to fans’ delight, she appeared in the first episode, titled “Pop Tarts & Rats Tales.” Fans claimed that this BLACKPINK idol is the reason the show is worth watching and that she’s the one who’s carrying this series altogether.

During the events of episode one, Jennie’s character, Dyanne, was seen as Joceyln’s stand-in dancer. But as the episode progresses, it seems like the two are somewhat friends since she took her out clubbing. Fans hoped there would be more interactions between the two characters and claimed that they would continue watching the series just so they could support their K-pop queen on screen.

HBO’s The Idol marks the acting debut for Jennie as she’s only appeared in numerous music videos. It was confirmed via the show’s IMDb page that Jennie will appear in all 6 episodes, so fingers crossed that she isn’t some side or background character that’s ordered to stand there and look pretty.

If you want to see this K-Pop star in The Idol, episode one is now available to stream on Max, with new episodes coming out every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.
