How many kids does Johnny Depp have?

Complicated though his legacy may be, his role as father seems secure.

If we make a retrospective reflection on Johnny Depp today, not only would we have to acknowledge the legacy he left behind as an iconic, versatile actor, but also myriads of scandals and controversies which he got himself into over the years, be it his past tumultuous relationships, or infamous divorce from and mutual defamation civil lawsuit trial with ex-wife Amber Heard.

While every aspect of Depp’s life has received extensive media coverage, his 60th birthday is leading many fans to revisit almost every aspect of his life. One of them being his personal life, which involves his marriage and children. The Pirates of the Caribbean star was married twice and shares two children with his former partner, French singer Vanessa Paradis — a son, Jack Depp, and daughter, Lily-Rose Depp.

Born in 1999, Lily-Rose, like her father, is an active presence in the acting world, and earned most of her recognition from brand-new and controversy-plagued Max television series The Idol, which premiered on June 4. Her other notable presences are in various feature and short films like Savage, Wolf, Crisis, and My Last Lullaby, to name a few.

His youngest kid, Jack, on the other hand, has stayed away from the spotlight, and there is no confirmation of him following in his father’s footsteps. Depp, however, is a proud father and on multiple occasions has credited his happiness to his kids. Like when he told Rolling Stone that was extremely thankful for his children, and that they are constantly loved.

“With my kids, they’re told 75 times a day that they’re loved. One thing I know is they feel loved and secure and happy and needed and necessary and a part of something. It really was as if a veil was lifted, and things became clearer, and I went, ‘Oh, I f**king get it now! That’s what it’s for! That’s what it’s for, this beautiful little creature that I took part in creating, making.’ I didn’t have a real handle on what life was supposed to mean or be or anything like that. And I still don’t. And I’m not sure that life is supposed to mean anything or be anything at all. But as long as you have the opportunity to breathe, breathe. As long as you have the opportunity to make your kid smile and laugh, and move it forward.”

The actor also stated how fatherhood completely changed his life and helped him with the frustrations and struggles he was experiencing in his life. Sharing his experiences with The Sun in 2012, he said how becoming a father was a turning point in Depp’s life especially because of his own tough childhood experiences. Speaking on the matter, he said,

“There is nothing on earth that could ever make me want to relive certain years of my life when I was young. You grow up a bit damaged or broken then you have some success, but you don’t know how to feel good about the work you’re doing or the life you’re leading. You feel empty. I was angry and frustrated until I started my own family, and my first child was born. Until then I didn’t really appreciate life the way I should have, but fortunately, I woke up.”

Undoubtedly, the actor in addition to being an established star is a protective father, and we look forward to seeing them bond more in the future.
