DC’s most recently canceled show fails to find a new home

Don't expect to see this DC show to be renewed elsewhere.

There’s bad news for DC‘s latest and unsuccessful series, Gotham Knights. The showrunner for The CW series has recently revealed that they have been unable to find a new home after it was canceled after one season.

Gotham Knights‘ James Stoteraux has given a lengthy update on Twitter, where he thanked fans for their support for the series. However, he and co-creator Chad Fiveash have been unable to find a network willing to pick up the series, and The CW has no plans to renew the show; for fans who immediately enjoyed Gotham Knights and the message behind the episodes, the news is undoubtedly unwelcomed.

According to him, executives can’t make “the numbers work,” and there aren’t enough resources to continue the series elsewhere. He finishes his post by asking fans to support a variety of charities and organizations as a way to continue the show’s message of “becoming the light strong enough to defy the darkness.”

In case you haven’t seen this series yet, Gotham Knights is a show about Turner Hayes, a young boy framed for killing his adopted father, Bruce Wayne. He and three other children, who were deemed suspects in the murder, formed an alliance with Batman’s sidekick, Robin, to find out who killed his father.

It’s pretty unfortunate that Gotham Knights was unable to continue elsewhere, but the reception for the show wasn’t great, according to Rotten Tomatoes. Gotham Knights received an average critics score of 23 percent and an average audience score of 46 percent. Despite the show’s criticisms, fans have supported the showrunners and are thankful that they have been transparent with this update.

The show is still ongoing, with the final episode, ‘Night of the Owls,’ scheduled to come out on June 27, 2023, on The CW.
