‘Futurama’s enduring relevance is on full display in new trailer

Good news, everyone!

A new trailer for the revival of Futurama is proving why the show’s enduring relevancy has defied its cancelation time and again.

The new season of the Matt Groening and David X. Cohen-created show, arriving exclusively on Hulu, shows glimmers of the satire of our modern times to come, such as touching on topics like the COVID-19 pandemic and cryptocurrency.

Strangely enough, Futurama’s head-on approach to very topical subject matter has actually made it even more timeless than its yellow-skinned counterpart, The Simpsons, in my opinion.

Even the very first episode of Futurama served as a biting satire of the Y2K panic of the time, yet still holds up to this day. With each subsequent season, the episode plots have transformed with the times, yet the animation style and characterization of the colorful cast have remained sharply consistent, an accolade that can’t quite be said for Homer and the residents of Springfield.

Despite the previous season of Futurama airing a decade ago, the hype from fans for the sci-fi comedy hasn’t died down one bit.

This isn’t the only new season of Futurama we’re getting. Last year, Hulu announced a 20-episode order, according to Deadline. The forthcoming season 11 will be 10 episodes in length, in total, which means we’re getting at least another season eventually. You can check out the debut episode of the newest season of Futurama on July 24, with new episodes releasing every Monday thereafter.
