‘Dumbest comment ever’: Kristi Noem insists ‘LA wouldn’t be standing today’ if it weren’t for Dear Leader Donald Trump

You have to wonder how Donald Trump‘s cabinet can look at themselves in the mirror. They know better than most that the president is an erratic, nonsensical and egotistical madman who shouldn’t be allowed within a thousand miles of the nuclear football.

And yet, they’ve tethered themselves to his mast. Trump’s success is now their success, Trump’s approval gives them power, and Trump’s happiness makes their jobs easier. As such, they will without an iota of visible shame say some of the craziest stuff you’ve ever heard.

Today’s example comes from ICE queen, “fascist Barbie” Kristi “dog slayer” Noem, who somehow kept a straight face when she appeared on CBS News to insist:

“I do know that L.A. wouldn’t be standing today if President Trump hadn’t taken action then that city would have burned down if left to the devices of the mayor and the governor of that state.”

Even Noem quickly realized she’d said something stupid, after she was asked to clarify whether she seriously thought “L.A. wouldn’t be standing if it weren’t for these federal deployments?” She walked back a bit, saying that local businesses were happy.

“Hahahahahhahahahahahahahaha”

Gavin Newsom’s press office had the most accurate and appropriate response to this:

I imagine it’s reassuring to believe in this bizarro version of reality. Wouldn’t it be comforting to think that Daddy Trump is looking after all us all from the Oval Office, singlehandedly saving cities from burning to the ground with his brave and courageous actions. Why, with such a man in charge why bother worrying about anything big and complicated.

But, sadly, most of us have to live in the real world. Yup, the reality where the United States is run by the craziest and stupid people around, and where a rapidly dementing lunatic is ordering soldiers to attack cities he doesn’t like. Maybe it would be fun to live in Trumpworld, but then there’s probably a reason why elective lobotomies never took off.
