Viral controversy has grown around the disappearance of Sarah Kerce, a Georgia woman reported missing in recent days. Her husband, William Kerce, has shared updates on the situation through social media posts and a GoFundMe campaign titled “A Celebration of Sarah ❤️,” which has drawn questions for its wording, given that Sarah is currently missing.

Savannah news outlet WSAV confirmed Georgia police were searching for Sarah. William has not been charged with any crime, and there’s no indication that Georgia police have declared him a person of interest in the case.

Sarah’s mental health

According to the GoFundMe description, William said that Sarah had been struggling with mental health challenges and left home without personal belongings, including her phone, identification, and credit cards. The campaign states that funds raised are intended to support the family and maintain their home while he faces legal obligations related to a missed court date.

William has shared updates on social media, including Ring camera footage that he described as showing Sarah leaving home. He emphasized that authorities have been notified. The posts also include details about coordinating care for their children and addressing family responsibilities during this period. Some of these posts have since been deleted.

In public comments, Kerce addressed questions about his use of past-tense language in reference to Sarah, explaining that it reflected her previous mental health struggles rather than any confirmation of her well-being or status.

Sarah’s previous attempt

Kerce also shared the news of Sarah’s disappearance on Facebook. Responding to a comment asking why he referred to her in the past tense, Kerce wrote, ” … [B]ecause she tried to take her life two months ago but I got her to the hospital.” Kerce also launched a GoFundMe at that time.

Kerce also posted, when asked about “jail”: “The thing with our baby that got us in this mess. The day she went missing we missed court so a warrant is out for both of us. She’s still missing unfortunately.”

The same day he shared the Ring footage, Kerce also posted, “I humbly ask for your help. I’m going to turn my work truck in before I turn myself in to the jail. I have to get my rent paid for the year so my daughter can stay in school and I have a home to come home to. God bless you all for helping and understanding. This is the hardest battle of my life but I trust God.”

Authorities have not confirmed Sarah’s whereabouts, and updates are expected as the investigation continues. The situation has prompted concern among friends, neighbors, and the online community. Given the sensitive nature of missing-person cases, the public needs to rely on verified information from law enforcement and avoid speculation. For anyone with information about Sarah Kerce, authorities encourage contacting local law enforcement
