Donald Trump continues to cosplay as a pathetic dictator with his latest rant on Truth social seeing the president literally call for the deaths of people in opposition to him. While some may say it’s just words, there are people out there that take Trump’s words seriously and now six Democrats have been put under protection after being the target of his dangerous rhetoric.
Two Democrat senators, Senators Elissa Slotkin (MI) and Mark Kelly (AZ) and four Reps. Jason Crow (CO), Maggie Goodlander (NH), Chrissy Houlahan (PA) and Chris DeLuzio (PA) released a video telling the military that they “can refuse illegal orders.” They emphasized the importance of the constitution and claimed that Trump’s orders were a threat to it as the president pitted the military and intelligence community against the American people.
In a furious response to the video on Truth Social, Donald Trump wrote, “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL.” He then went further and claimed that their actions were punishable by death, Trump also reposted comments from others that called for other forms of capital punishment, one of the reposts read, “HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!”

Of course, the most powerful man in the country calling for the death of those who oppose him is a serious issue. It only serves to further stoke the violent actions of his strongest supporters. If you don’t think someone could be mad enough to act on the president’s words, may I remind you that thousands of people stormed the Capitol after Trump claimed the election was stolen.
Senator Slotkin has claimed she’s already received hundreds of threats after Trump made the statement on Thursday as per the Daily Mail. She wasn’t even surprised by the response.
“If the president is saying you should be hanged, then we shouldn’t be surprised when folks on the ground are going to follow suit and say even worse.”
House minority leader, Hakeem Jeffries, stated that they had already been in contact with law enforcement regarding the recent threats made against the lawmakers. Trump has basically painted a target on these people’s backs and now they need round the clock protection in case one or more crazed MAGA cultists get any ideas. It’s happened before, back in June, two Democrat lawmakers were shot dead by an assailant, so it could definitely happen again.
The worst part is that some of the people Trump is threatening have arguably done more for America than he ever has. Senator Kelly is a former Navy combat pilot and astronaut and now the president is calling for his execution. “I’ve had a missile blow up next to my airplane, been shot at dozens of times by anti-aircraft fire, and launched into orbit — all for my country.”
