‘Full-speed drives away’: Woman’s Uber driver takes off with her suitcase still in the trunk, what happened next is like a movie

She had one chance to fix this disaster, and she took it.

Early morning flights are stressful enough, but one woman’s trip from Boston to Los Angeles turned into chaos when her rideshare driver left with her suitcase in the trunk. Content creator Angela King shared this wild story on TikTok about what she called the most stressful start to a work trip ever.

Angela was flying for work and got out of the car at the airport. She waited for the driver to open the trunk so she could get her luggage, but it never happened. Instead, the driver “literally stormed off,” King says in her TikTok video, speeding away at full speed with all her work clothes and essentials inside. King had only seconds to decide what to do next, and this is where things got crazy.

A stranger turned the situation into a high-speed chase

A helpful stranger saw everything happen. King recalled the man saying, “Oh my gosh. Like, I just saw what happened. Hop in.” She jumped into a complete stranger’s vehicle, and they chased the Uber driver down the highway. The stranger honked his horn nonstop trying to get the driver’s attention.

The chase actually worked. The Uber driver finally pulled over, and King got back into the rideshare car. She expected a huge apology or at least some explanation for what just happened.

What she got instead was shocking. The driver didn’t apologize at all. She asked, “Oh, do you wanna just grab your bag? And then are you like, is he gonna take you?” King told her the man was a complete stranger and demanded the driver take her back to the airport right away. This isn’t the first time Uber has faced serious complaints from customers over driver behavior.

Watching my suitcase drive away in an uber was not on my bingo card for today. I felt like I had already experienced every emotion by 6:15 am 😂 #uber #boston #northend #loganairport #travelstory

The driver’s excuse was unbelievable. She simply said, “Oh, I think I should have my coffee.” That’s a terrible response when someone’s work trip is at risk. King said she had felt every emotion possible by 6:15 AM that morning. Rideshare drivers have also gotten into legal trouble with customers before.

This story shows that while rideshare apps are convenient, you’re putting a lot of trust in strangers. Experts say there are safety features in apps like Uber and Lyft that everyone should know before getting in a car. Wait inside until the app confirms your driver arrived. Always check the license plate, car model, and driver’s photo match what’s in your app.

When the driver shows up, ask them who they’re picking up instead of saying your own name. Use the Share My Trip feature to send your location to trusted contacts. Sit in the back seat when riding alone for better personal space and exit options. Screenshot your trip details and text them to someone, because if a driver cancels, their information might disappear from the app completely.
