Mother-daughter In-N-Out trip turns into panic after realizing they might’ve eaten live worms

She finished her whole burger just in time to watch a live worm move around on her daughter's

A TikTok video has sparked discussion after a customer found a live insect inside her In-N-Out meal. Content creator Kapri Lyons shared footage of a small, dark insect crawling inside the lettuce wrap of her burger while eating at the fast-food chain with her mother.

Lyons documented the incident in a video uploaded to her TikTok account, the latest customer stories involving the popular burger chain. The clip captures both her and her mother reacting in disbelief inside the restaurant before leaving.

The situation caused concern for her mother, who realized she had already finished her own meal before noticing the insect. The two women gathered their items, discarded their remaining food, and left the building to return to their vehicle.

This is not the first time a fast food order went wrong

Finding an insect inside a meal is enough to alarm any diner, especially when fresh produce is involved. Earlier this month, investigators traced a parasite outbreak linked to shredded lettuce served at Taco Bell, underscoring the challenges restaurants face when handling fresh produce.

In the video, she shows a close-up shot of the burger where a small creature is visibly moving on the lettuce leaf. Then expresses her shock while filming her mother’s reaction, pointing out the movement to confirm that the insect was still alive.

“It’s right there, it was moving,” she says while filming the burger. Her mother, meanwhile, realizes she has already finished her own burger before making the discovery, exclaiming, “I just ate a worm!” The pair panic as they try to make sense of what they found.

After leaving the restaurant, Lyons filmed additional footage outside the building and during their drive home. She said they only spotted the insect because they had jokingly wondered whether there might be bugs in their food moments earlier.

“The second time! And the only reason I saw the bugs was because we were talking about it,” she said while walking through the parking lot. Then she added that she saw a “freaking alive, little maggot worm” inside the wrap.

While driving away, her mother worried about what she may have unknowingly consumed. “What if it’s a freaking tapeworm? Now I’m really scared,” she said, adding that she had eaten the entire burger before noticing anything unusual. As Lyons laughed nervously behind the camera, her mother insisted she was “never going back” to In-N-Out after the unsettling experience.
