A TikTok user named Kim (@og.kimmm) recently ordered food from Chili’s and made a disgusting discovery. When she opened her blue cheese dipping sauce, she found orange-red specks mixed into the white dressing. The specks looked like buffalo sauce, which made her think someone had already used the cup before it was sent to her.
According to BroBible, Kim posted a nine-second video showing the contaminated sauce. The large styrofoam container looked normal at first, but when she moved the camera closer, the orange-red specks became clearly visible floating in the sauce. She was understandably upset and disgusted by what she found.
In the TikTok video, Kim asked, “Yo, why the f— did my blue cheese come […] used, bro? What the f—, Chili’s?” She also complained in the caption about other issues with the restaurant. “Bad enough they got rid of their corn smh, now yall sent me used blue cheese? Why always me?” she wrote. The video quickly gained over 410,000 views.
The discovery sparked major concerns about restaurant hygiene
Other TikTok users were equally horrified when they saw the video. Many people left comments expressing their disgust and demanding that Chili’s take action. One person wrote, “That’s disgusting.” while another said they would demand a full replacement for all their food if this happened to them.
Some commenters tagged the company directly and demanded, “Ew, I would make a complaint so fast 😂.” This isn’t the first time social media users have called out businesses for poor service or quality issues. While Kim believed someone had dipped a wing into the sauce before it was sent out, some viewers offered a different explanation.
A Chili’s worker commented on the video saying, “chilies worker here lol, our sauces occasionally trip into each other when we are in a rush. it isn’t used just a different sauce in it!” This suggested the contamination might have happened accidentally during busy hours.
However, other commenters pointed out that this explanation doesn’t make the situation any better. One person wrote, “yall do realize that even if its because other sauces are dripping into it its still a health code violation…right?” Another user shared a concerning tip about why they mix their leftover sauces together before throwing them away, claiming servers reuse dipping sauces that look untouched.
Finding mixed condiments is definitely gross and unappetizing, but it’s probably not dangerous unless you have food allergies. However, Kim’s original worry that the cup was already used by someone else raises much more serious health concerns. Sharing food, drinks, or utensils can easily spread diseases like the flu, cold sores, mononucleosis, rotavirus, and herpes.
The incident has many people rethinking their dining choices when ordering takeout. If you ever find something unusual in your food, you should contact the restaurant right away to report it. While Kim’s video got a lot of attention online, Chili’s parent company has not made any public statement about the incident yet.
