You’ve heard of the cat distribution system but are you aware of the weasel allocation operation? Just like cats, when a wild weasel appears in your life you have no choice but to accept it as the latest addition to your family.
A woman by the name of Brooke on TikTok found out just how irresistibly cute weasels can be when one showed up in her home and refused to leave. Brooke was able to catch a part of her encounter with the wild animal and post it to TikTok.
In a video which has already racked millions of views Brooke documents her numerous failed attempts to catch the weasel. The little fur-baby is fast and able to quickly scurry away underneath cabinets and kitchen cupboards. Eventually Brooke is able to trap it in a bin and take it outside but pretty soon it’s back in her house. Clearly she isn’t getting rid of it that easily.
Plenty of comments argued over whether it was an ermine or a stoat with many insisting that it was the latter (we’re just going to call it a weasel). But what most viewers have been begging for is more updates and thankfully Brooke has provided.
Adopting a weasel
Brooke’s first hilarious video ended with her new weasel friend getting back into the house and immediately going for a swim in her toilet, it’s already making itself more than comfortable in her home. In the subsequent videos Brooke is able to build more of a trust bond with the weasel as it shows no fear when she approaches. It continues to explore around her house without concern, one viewer wondered if it was a missing pet as it seems so unbothered by humans.
As the saga goes on Brooke becomes more attached, even naming the weasel “Menny,” (short for Menace), as we all know, once you name it you’re already attached. While Brooke is still trying to catch Menny and relocate him in the videos, it’s clear the two have a special bond with one viewer writing, “just accept that he is your pet already.” Others also suggested that she adopt Menny, “I’m going to be so upset if you don’t end up keeping him.”
It’s currently unclear whether Brooke intends to keep Menny, or is even allowed to (from a legal standpoint). “Not to kill the vibe but I’m sure it’s illegal to keep native species as pets without a permit,” one viewer pointed out. Whatever the case, it seems Menny and Brooke are still housemates judging by her latest post. So it seems she chose to keep Menny around, or more accurately, Menny chose to make Brooke’s house his home.
