Woman destroys public-toucher over ‘I’m Canadian’ excuse for misconduct

Canadian singer Michael Bublé weighed in on the matter.

A TikTok creator and bartender, Nikki G (@nahstynik), shared an awkward experience when a stranger touched her while she sat at a bar off duty.

She told the man to stop touching her, and he apologized, using the fact that he’s Canadian as an excuse, asking if they’re “good,” but she says “they’re not.” As Nikki G’s post went viral, even Canadian singer Michael Bublé weighed in, speaking for Canadian men, commenting, “Definitely not a thing.”

“Don’t touch somebody”

Nikki G’s post shows her sitting with another woman at the bar. A man walks behind her and touches her on the shoulder. She says, “You can tell me I’m beautiful, but don’t touch somebody.” He apologizes, and says he’s Canadian. “Oh, you’re Canadian? That explains it,” Nikki G says sarcastically. “Just don’t touch me.”

As the man walks away, she turns to her friend, “I’m Canadian. That’s your excuse for touching women? I’m gonna look that up to see if that’s actually a thing.”

As well as Bublé, Comments on Nikki G’s post included, ‘Canada here! We don’t know him.” Another joked, “Canadian here. That’s Bill. We kicked Bill out for exactly that reason…” Over on Reddit, someone shared the post, captioned “She handled that perfectly.”

“Confidence isn’t flirting”

In another post, Nikki G shared her version of men hitting on her while on the job. And elsewhere, shared a story captioned “Confidence isn’t flirting.”

She explains that a man approached her and asked for her phone number and Instagram. She declined and walked away, but the man followed her outside and tried again.

She then played the brief exchange from the encounter. In the clip, the man pushes for her Instagram while trying to frame the request casually. “Oh boy, you should take my Instagram down. I feel like we’re gonna be good friends. Not dating, just friends,” he says.

Nikki G questions him and keeps her distance, responding skeptically when he insists she won’t regret it. At one point she tells him, “You’re already too close to me. I’m already disappointed.” Despite his persistence — “Can you just take my Instagram?” — she refuses. The interaction ends with him saying, “Your loss,” to which she calmly replies, “My loss. Have a good night, sir.”

Reflecting on the clip, Nikki G says the moment shows that people can enforce boundaries without escalating the situation. She emphasized that turning someone down doesn’t require hostility or anger. As she explained, “You can tell somebody no and still be kind, respectful, not yell, not raise your voice, not have a bad attitude.”
