Passengers on plane left spooked after man suddenly insists he get off last minute and claims ‘he had no luggage with him’

Even the most laid back air travellers would be a little panicked if they witnessed the kerfuffle one woman saw on her flight. The woman shared her concerned reaction on TikTok after her plane was delayed and another passenger insisted he be allowed off of the plane while also claiming he had no luggage. 

A viral video posted by the TikTok account, “Mad&Mak” shows a concerned looking woman sitting in her seat onboard a plane. The caption in the video explains, “Our plane was pushed back and someone suddenly wanted off of it and insisted he had no luggage with him.” While you don’t want to assume the worst in such a situation most people’s minds would automatically go to the same place. After all, who gets on a flight with nothing but the clothes on their back?

The incident likely raised many questions in the minds of the other passengers on board the plane. Why did the man have to leave so suddenly? Did he really have no luggage? Or had he left his luggage on the plane? The latter possibility only leads to more frightening questions regarding what might be in said luggage. An explosive device of some sort for example.

So the woman and her fellow passengers were faced with a choice. Do they take their chances and fly on the plane? Or do they play it safe and get off? While it’s a terrifying choice, it’s not an entirely uncommon occurrence; some commenters on TikTok had even done it themselves. “I did this once. The plane had been fully boarded and I started to have a panic attack while we were still at the gate.” one person wrote, explaining that it was simply their first time flying alone.

What happened next?

The woman soon returned with a storytime video in which she recalled what happened next. She explained that the man had told flight attendants that he had “a family emergency” and had insisted he get off the plane. After he was let off there was a big concern that he had left something onboard which could pose a threat to the passengers and staff.

Due to the man’s strange behavior it was decided to be too much of a risk to take off without doing a full sweep. The passengers were de-planed for about an hour-and-a-half while two agencies swept the plane for anything suspicious. Afterwards everyone was let back onboard with it being determined that the plane was safe.

It just goes to show how seriously security is taken at airports. Thankfully in this case there was nothing to worry about but it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
