‘Many of his crimes are exaggerated’: Jeffrey Epstein’s lawyer claims notorious sex trafficker only had dirt on one person

Jeffrey Epstein was believed to be blackmailing influential figures, but his former lawyer claims that wasn't the case.

Although there is little solid proof, it’s commonly been believed that Jeffrey Epstein was blackmailing many high-ranking and influential figures. Theories bandied about online suggested that the New York financier and sex trafficker had dirt on almost every one and was using it for his own gain. However, Epstein’s former attorney has since come out and put those supposed conspiracy theories to rest.

Alan Dershowitz, 87, spoke about his former client on Pod Force One. The former lawyer was a part of the legal team responsible for Epstein’s non-prosecution deal which saw him evade jail after he was charged with unlawful sex with minors and sexual abuse back in 2006. During his time on the podcast Dershowitz explained that there were many claims spread about his former client which were untrue but had been treated as fact.

A popular theory relating to Epstein was that he was operating a global blackmailing ring relating to sex. Some theories suggest that the financier would use photographs of influential figures who attended his parties as leverage against them. The theories also stated that this whole scheme had ties to the CIA or Mossad.

Alan Dershowitz denies the Jeffrey Epstein blackmail rumors

Dershowitz put the rumors to rest by stating that, “I know for a categorical fact that isn’t the case,” as per the New York Post. He explained that he asked Epstein whether he had ties to any intelligence agencies, telling him, “If you had any connection to any intelligence agencies, I can get you a better deal.” However, he denied any such connection, asking Dershowitz, “What intelligence agency would ever hire me or rely on me?”

Dershowitz even claimed that he “confirmed that with the Mossad,” before stating he didn’t believe the CIA theory either.

While Jeffrey Epstein may not have had a long list of blackmail targets, he did apparently have dirt on one person Dershowitz confirmed, however, the lawyer remained tight-lipped over who the supposed individual was. He did specify that the unnamed person “not a political figure,” but was “well-known person.”

Dershowitz also claimed that Epstein “categorically told me that he had nothing on Donald Trump at all, that Donald Trump had done nothing wrong whatsoever.”

The renowned lawyer admitted that he regretted defending Epstein, labeling him a “terrible evil man.” He also stated his belief that the sex trafficker likely committed suicide in jail before later adding that Epstein technically wasn’t a pedophile as, according to him, “A pedophile, medically, is somebody who is interested in prepubescent people.” It’s safe to say Dershowitz has some interesting and controversial takes regarding his former client, how much of what he says is true is certainly up for debate.
