A Nashville-area content creator recently shared a video on TikTok showing a golf bag she found at a Goodwill thrift store for $19.99, asking her husband if he wanted it. What followed was a reaction that’s since been viewed over 4.3 million times on the platform.
Caroline Ecker, who goes by @carolineecker on TikTok, filmed herself at the store standing next to a green golf bag. She sent the footage to her husband, Kyle, asking, “Does this interest you at all?” According to the video, Kyle called her back almost immediately.
Ecker captioned the video, “I Think I Just Won Wife of the Year,” after seeing how Kyle reacted once she brought the bag home.
The $19.99 Goodwill bag turned out to contain a Scotty Cameron putter worth hundreds of dollars
In the video, Kyle is seen outside their home unboxing the bag for the first time. He said he wanted the bag from the moment he spotted the head cover alone, stating, “You’ve got to get this bag just for that. It was like the first thing I saw, everything, and I was like, we gotta get it.”
As he pulled the putter out, Kyle appeared visibly overwhelmed. “I’m trying to not be shaky here, but this is pretty freaking exciting,” he said. When he finally got a clear look at the club, his reaction was immediate: “Oh my God, there’s no way!”
The club turned out to be a Scotty Cameron putter, a brand widely regarded among golf enthusiasts as one of the most desirable putter manufacturers on the market. Kyle pointed to the shaft and said, “Look, it even says Cameron on the grip and everything,” referring to the “CAMERON GOLF PRIDE” text printed near the grip. He also noted that the bottom of the putter head read “SCOTTY CAMERON NEWPORT TWO by Titleist.”
Kyle continued expressing his disbelief throughout the unboxing. “I’m gonna freaking lose it. I cannot believe it,” he said. “That is incredible, that is amazing.” He added, “This is gonna take my putting game to a whole another level. If you thought I was golfing a lot before, now… just look at that. That is so cool.”
According to listings on eBay cited by BroBible, Scotty Cameron TeI3 putters, the model Kyle found in the bag are currently listed for between $300 and $500. That would make the $19.99 purchase a significant find, based on those listings. When Ecker asked Kyle if the bag was “worth $20,” he replied without hesitation: “Worth $20 for sure.”
The video’s on-screen text framed the moment as: “When you send your husband a video from the thrift store asking if he wants these golf clubs” and “And he calls you immediately freaking out, anyone know why?”
The text was referencing the fact that Ecker apparently did not know what brand the clubs were or what they were worth at the time she found them. Goodwill stores have produced similar surprises before, such as when a Florida woman’s $10 grab bag shocked a cashier mid-scan.
Viewers responded in the comments section, with several appearing to have knowledge of the brand’s value. “The putter alone is worth 350-600 dollars,” one user wrote. Another added more context on the model, commenting, “New about $899. Newport teryllium.” A third joked about whoever previously owned the clubs, writing, “Find the husband who lost out on this.” Not every Goodwill trip goes as planned, though a Pennsylvania woman found her own donated clothes back on the racks.
