Omaha woman ditches infant on baby daddy’s porch, well aware no one would answer the door: ‘I told her I wasn’t home’

“DoorDashing the baby is crazy.”

A Nebraska father’s emotional Facebook Reel is going viral after he claimed his child’s mother left their infant daughter unattended on his porch in Omaha, despite allegedly knowing no one would answer the door.

The Ring Door Camera video, posted by Devontae Bell, shows a baby carrier sitting outside a residence while Bell narrates the aftermath of what he says was a tense custody exchange gone wrong. The clip quickly spread across social media, where commenters blasted the situation as reckless and dangerous.

“This is what I woke up to after I let my baby mama have my daughter for a day and a half, and she pulled off afterwards,” Bell wrote in the Reel’s caption. “But I’m the villain if I deny her access to her 🤔?”

Bell: “I told her I wasn’t home”

Bell later added further context in the comments section, claiming the child’s mother knew he was not planning to answer the door because he had explicitly told her not to come by.

“She didn’t know I was home, because I told her I wasn’t home, and not to pull up,” Bell wrote. “I pick up and drop off 95% of the time,” he said. “She did this to be petty.”

According to Bell, the woman called him shortly before the incident and appeared upset during the conversation.

I told her I was going to pick my daughter up immediately after she called me. She was mad for whatever reason, and said ‘your mom can take her’ prior to the conversation.”

Bell insisted he never knowingly left the infant unattended outside and said he did not realize the child had been dropped off until after the woman drove away.

“Just for those that think I would leave my daughter outside,” he wrote. “She didn’t know if anybody was home, nor did she check, nor do you ever leave a baby unattended, end of story.”

He also claimed the mother had previously made threats he did not take seriously.

“I had no idea my baby was outside until after she pulled off,” Bell added. “She always makes dumb threats,” but he didn’t think she was serious.

The Reel sparked thousands of reactions online, with many commenters expressing disbelief over the situation. One widely shared response read: “DoorDashing the baby is crazy.”

No official criminal charges or police reports related to the viral incident have surfaced. A search of Omaha-area news outlets and law enforcement announcements did not reveal any confirmed investigation involving Bell or the child’s mother. The child’s mother could not be reached for comment.

Nebraska’s “Safe Haven” laws

While the video has circulated widely on Facebook and clips have been reposted on other social platforms, there do not appear to be any verified mainstream news reports covering the matter at this time.

Nebraska law treats child abandonment and child neglect as potentially serious offenses depending on the circumstances. The state also has Safe Haven protections that allow parents to legally surrender infants at designated locations such as hospitals without criminal penalties under specific conditions.
