Hawaii mom realizes that her driveway is partially blocked, so dad chooses some petty revenge: ‘Not built for this kind of close living’

The internet is divided on if she was wrong or right.

How would you react if someone parked in front of your house and partially blocked your driveway? One Hawaii based mom, a TikToker known as CaseFace (@caseofpenniez1), was posed with this question a few days ago. She uploaded the security camera footage with the on-screen text “Rando person parks on the road with his car blocking my driveway.” The video went viral on TikTok after she and her husband chose to react with some calculated pettiness.

You can watch as the driver backs into the spot, and after getting out, stares at his vehicle, clearly second-guessing his own parking job, which leaves the car protruding into the driveway by a few feet. When CaseFace heads out for a walk with her three kids, she snaps a picture and sends it to her husband. His response? He suggests she pull her car in front of the stranger’s vehicle so her kids can play safely in the driveway.

She follows the instructions, even recruiting her 7-year-old to get as close to his car as possible on the encouragement of her husband. The video concludes with her sitting in the driveway with her kids, coloring, and captioning the post, “Really am not built for this type of close living… lol.” She also invited everyone to come back and see how he gets out. As of the writing of this article, the video had gained 28.9 million views.

TikTok really didn’t like her reaction

Iliyan W wrote, “Oh….you’re that kind of neighbor :/” while Kenn commented, “Yessss let’s teach our kids to not think with patience, kindness, and understanding. Love this for you girl.” Others thought she overreacted, with Duchess Jess noting, “He’s barely blocking it and you were still able to get out 🙄.”

JAMES GARCIA adding, “i mean you drive a tahoe and it looks like you got out with no issue at all, was the kid wrong yes but it doesn’t hurt to be kind and just let it be.” CaseFace didn’t stay silent, though. When user7823944146300 suggested it wasn’t worth the negative energy, she replied, “I would park down the street and carry all 3 of my children with all our things to not impede on someone elses property. So no I won’t ever be in this situation.”

A few hours later, she uploaded a follow-up video that shows the conclusion of the standoff. The footage is sped up and shows the driver attempting to inch his way out of the spot before CaseFace comes out to confront him. While the audio is a bit unclear, he appears to tell her he was just visiting his parents and tries to position himself as a nice guy.

She sticks to her guns, pointing out that she saw him looking at his car earlier and knew exactly what he was doing. Eventually, she moves her car, and he speeds off. Reactions here were just as divided. While 727ska said they were “100% on homeowners side,” noting that you don’t block a driveway “whether it’s by 2 inches or 2 feet,” others like Molly felt the reaction was “completely unnecessary.”

According to Ilabaca Law, blocking a private driveway is illegal in almost every U.S. city and county. They explain that state traffic codes and local ordinances protect your right to enter and exit your property, and in most cases, you have the right to call police or parking enforcement to have the vehicle ticketed or towed. The firm did advise against moving the vehicle yourself or hiring a private tow company since you could be held liable for damages.

A day after the videos went viral, CaseFace made a post to address the backlash, claiming that she had even received death threats, saying “This is crazy. It’s not that serious.” She admitted, “Yes, I am that petty. I’m gonna be that petty for the remainder of my entire life,” but associated her reaction as being one impacted by the living conditions in Hawaii.

“I don’t think that you guys understand what it’s like living in a highly congested area like An overpopulated island.” She emphasized that she didn’t want to raise children who were “sheepish, shy, not confident children who are afraid to speak up about how they feel in a situation.” She acknowledged she could have handled it differently, but stood by her actions.

CaseFace isn’t the first person to react to bad parking with pettiness. This year, a TikToker with a $1 million lamborghini found his car vandalized after he parked in a handicapped spot. Another TikToker, Raph took it even further by claiming he would slash a cars tires after he was blocked in.
