A woman who goes by LEEN on TikTok, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, shared a dating story on the platform that she said she had held back for two years. In the video, she describes meeting a man on the dating app Hinge who she claims made a series of unsettling revelations over the course of two dates. The video was posted under the caption, “And this is me making it a short story. I wanna SHAKE 2023 me.”
According to Leen, the man, whom she refers to as “Tony“, noting that is not his real name, drove two hours to take her on a first date. She said the timing was around her divorce, and she acknowledged that she would not make the same choices today.
She described Tony as attractive, well-spoken, and seemingly put-together. According to her account, he arrived at her door with flowers, took her to a nice restaurant in a nice car, and held genuine conversations throughout the evening. She said he had served in the military and was working toward a master’s degree at the time.
Tony allegedly made a startling confession during pillow talk on the second date
Leen said Tony grew up on a farm in a southern state and was homeschooled alongside his siblings, with no other children involved. She noted he had a sister who was about one to two years younger than him. Despite what she described as an uneasy gut feeling before the second date, she went ahead with it, meeting him for mini golf and dinner near East Carolina University, where she believed he was enrolled.
At dinner, according to Leen, Tony told her she looked just like his cousin. “You look just like my cousin,” she recalled him saying. She said he then showed her a photo, and she claimed the resemblance was striking. “I look identical. Identical,” she said in the video. She added that he spent the rest of the evening telling her how attractive she was.
“So we go back, he gets a hotel because he has a roommate because he’s in school. He brings out things, things that I don’t want,” Leen said. She claimed that he brought out items she described as “dangerous things” meant for the bedroom, which she said she was not comfortable with. She did not go into further detail about what those items were.
Later that night, during what she described as a conversation that turned personal, Tony allegedly disclosed that starting around third grade, he and his sister had been involved in a physical relationship that he claimed continued until a couple of years prior to their date. “Him and his sister had relations for years,” Leen said, describing her reaction as one of fear. “I’m actually in danger,” she said she thought at the time. Similar unsettling revelations have emerged in other Hinge dating stories, like a woman learning about a date’s disturbing family history.
Leen said she had been drinking that evening and felt she could not safely drive the roughly two hours home. She said she made a deliberate choice to stay calm and keep him talking. “I become a therapist,” she said, describing how she tried to frame his disclosure in a way that kept the conversation going without escalating the situation. She said he eventually fell asleep, and she drove home the following morning.
She said that while she was driving home, Tony called her to say how much he had enjoyed spending time with her. “I had so much fun. Like, I love getting to know you,” she recalled him saying. She told him she felt they were not compatible because he did not appear to have a relationship with God. According to Leen, he responded by saying she simply was not into the same things he was into. Other Hinge dates have also taken bizarre turns when a man drops an outrageous truth.
In the video, Leen said she waited two years to share the story because of how it reflected on her own judgment. “Every time I try to, I’m like, ugh, this looks bad for me,” she said. The video drew a strong response in the comments.
A user wrote, “Baby you’re a victim,” a sentiment that appeared to resonate widely, with the comment receiving over 15,000 likes. Another user commented, “Girl his willingness to tell you this many details on a second date? I fear for the details that weren’t shared.”
Another commenter wrote, “you couldn’t waterboard this info outta me.” She added, “the fact that the cousin thing was the least weird part of this story.” Another viewer also weighed in, writing, “the fact that he even admitted that.”
Leen ended the video by addressing viewers directly, saying, “Just because they look like Leo does not mean you should date them,” referencing a comparison she had made earlier in the video between Tony and an actor. She also invited viewers to ask questions in the comments.
