Indiana woman creeped out at Marshall’s when she feels a stranger’s lips brush her ear. She turns around and gets a stone-cold stare: ‘we have to go’

A woman said in a TikTok video that she walked up to a stranger inside a Marshalls store and whispered in her ear, thinking the woman was her sister. The video, posted by a creator who goes by Abby (@spitfire.xo), has been viewed by TikTok users under the caption “Bad day.”

Abby said in the video that the mix-up happened while she was shopping at Marshalls with her sister. According to Abby, her sister was looking at cups in the store when she decided to sneak up behind her as a joke.

Abby said she got close enough to speak directly into the woman’s ear before realizing something was wrong.

She says the stranger did not react the way she expected

Abby said in the video, “The next time you’re having a bad day, I just want you to know that the other day I went to Marshalls with my sister.” She said her sister was looking at cups when she approached her from behind.

Abby described getting close to the woman’s ear, saying, “I got like right up in her ear, like I could feel her hair on my lips.” She then said she whispered, “I have to s**t, we have to go.” Abby said the woman turned around, and it became clear she had made a mistake. Mistaken whispers can lead to awkward encounters, as when a woman in LA embarrassed herself at Starbucks while getting her drink. 

She said, “And she turned around and looked at me, and, um, that woman was not my sister.” Store mix-ups involving strangers have shown up in other cases, including one where a Charlotte woman described an unsettling encounter at an Aldi checkout line.

Abby said she had hoped the stranger would laugh off the encounter. She said, “And I would have felt okay about it had she laughed, because then I would have been able to laugh and all would have been fine and well.” According to Abby, the woman did not laugh and instead gave her a blank stare.

Abby said, “But she didn’t, she just stared at me like – ” before demonstrating an unamused expression on camera. She then said, “so then I just hit her with – ” while raising her hand in a gesture resembling a stop or goodbye sign, followed by, “and walked away.”

The video ends with Abby looking away from the camera with a slight smile, appearing to signal that the story was over. The video’s comment section has drawn thousands of responses, with several users sharing their own reactions and similar stories.

One commenter wrote, “I would have said ‘ME TOO LETS GO.'” Abby replied, “Tj maxx and Marshall’s have a laxative effect.” Another commenter said, “LMAO 💀 I would have DIED, the whole store would hear my laugh.” Abby responded, “Hahahahhaa.” A third commenter shared a similar experience, writing, “My daughter crept up to me at Homegoods with my husband next to her and ripped a really loud fart- it was not me. I found out after hearing them rushing from the back of the store whisper-giggling.” Abby replied, “LOOOOOL NOOOO.”
