A TikTok video showing a woman calmly sitting in the driver’s seat of her car after an alleged assault by her boyfriend has drawn millions of views. The creator, who posts under the username @liminallexi_ and goes by Lexi Rae, shared the clip along with a caption describing what had just happened.
The video shows Rae looking straight ahead, wearing sunglasses and a cap, appearing still and composed. The camera then pans up and across the car, eventually showing a badly cracked windshield with a spiderweb pattern spreading out from a central point.
The on-screen caption for the TikTok video reads, “POV: your boyfriend is crying in the passenger seat because he just str4ng13d you and kicked your windscreen in and he wants you to feel bad for him but you’re in shock.”

In the comments section of the video, viewers asked Rae whether she had left the relationship. She replied, “can confirm.” Another commenter said their first instinct was to question why the man was still in her car, but added that shock is a real and frightening response. Rae responded, “Yeah me too. I just got home and took evidence. Police said it was smart. Like don’t fight back in a car against someone twice as strong as you 😭”
Other commenters encouraged her to report the incident and pursue legal action. One wrote, “Report incident to police, press charges, and file order against.” Another shared a personal experience, writing, “My ex husband would do this after he beat me .. they thrive on victimizing themselves after THEY abuse you ..”
In a follow-up TikTok video, Rae shared a compilation of photos and clips from the relationship, with the man’s face obscured by emojis in each image. Text overlays in the video state that the incident took place on February 1, 2016, which she described as the first anniversary of her father’s death. In a clip from that day, Rae is heard saying, “You just broke my window,” to which the man replies, “No, you did it. Listen to me.”
The video includes a shot of a shattered car windshield, along with a document described as a “POLICE SAFETY ORDER.” Additional text overlays list reasons Rae says were given to excuse the man’s behavior, including that “he was tired and moody,” “he has type one diabetes,” and “his father never loved him.”
The video also includes text describing the incident as “an extreme case of DARVO,” which it defines as “DEFEND & ACCUSE to REVERSE the roles of VICTIM & OFFENDER.” Another slide shows Rae in a hospital bed with medical wires attached to her chest, with text reading, “It’s coercive control. IT’S PSYCHOLOGICAL MANIPULATION. It’s abuse.”
According to the video, Rae and the man got back together after the windshield incident. Text overlays state that she later visited him in Australia while wearing a cast on her wrist, and that on June 8, he “broke my ribs with a violent hug.”
Rae says she is sharing her story to raise awareness about psychological manipulation in abusive relationships, adding in the video that she has a law degree and still found herself in the relationship. She states in the video, “Abusers fake cry like this to appear like the victim. It’s not reactive. It’s abuse.”
In a third video, Rae responded to a comment asking for “his side of the story.” She said in the TikTok video’s caption that she is pursuing criminal charges and therefore cannot show the man’s face. The clip shows the man crying loudly in the passenger seat while Rae films.
In the audio, the man says, “You didn’t listen to me! You didn’t listen to me! I said leave me alone and you f–king didn’t!” Rae responds, “I was just asking a question. Am I not allowed to ask a question? Why can’t I ask you a question?” The fallout from such personal conflicts can escalate, as when a California man’s post about his girlfriend led to alleged threats and drastic action.
The video also includes a meme graphic showing a cartoon figure pointing to a chart labeled “Side A” and “Side B,” with text reading, “See? Both sides did. There’s literally no difference between them.” In the clip, Rae is heard telling the man, “Amazing. And you realize you’ve been caught out on f–king recording and you’ve smashed my window. I’ll take you straight to your brother’s house.”
