Woman says she got roped into an FBI investigation. By the time she realized the truth, her life savings were gone: ‘They know where I’m going to go’

A courier allegedly came to her house to take her money.

We all like to believe that we’re impervious to scams, but sometimes it’s just not as easy to know when a scammer is trying to take your money. One woman on TikTok who thought she was clued up on such schemes found out the hard way that anybody can fall victim to scams no matter how wary they are.

A US Bank customer on TikTok by the name of Keira posted a video in which she shared her alleged experience of being scammed in order to warn others of the potential dangers. In the video, she appears to be visibly upset as she retells her story.

“I can’t say it out loud because it makes me ill, but I was scammed for a large amount of money,” she claims. Keira goes on to say she was called by a phone number which she believed belonged to her bank. She says they told her that there had been fraudulent activity on her account and gave her another number to call, “I’m thinking it’s real at this time, so I don’t like google this new, next number.”

The person Keira spoke to on the phone has a rather unusual demand, but she claims her panic took over her critical thinking, resulting in Keira not questioning things she probably should have.

Keira realizes what happened to her too late

She claims that the person on the other end of the line told her to go into her nearest branch before telling her that the one she was heading to was “under investigation” by the FBI for fraudulent activities. They claimed that Keira was now a part of the FBI operation and told her to withdraw money from her account to see if the teller was in on the alleged fraud.

While it certainly sounds like an elaborate scam, not all scams are immediately obvious, Keira claims that things such as the fact “They know where I’m banking, they know where I’m going to go,” added a level of legitimacy to the scammers’ story. However, Keira claims she accused them of being scammers several times but ultimately went through with what she was told to do.

“They had me convinced that the cash I pulled out was fraudulent cash,” she says, before going on to claim she was told to meet a “courier” at her house to pick up the money she had withdrawn from her own account. Despite having reservations, she allegedly went through with it, meeting a courier at her home and giving the person her money, only realizing later that this had all been a part of an elaborate scam.

TikTok is suspicious

Keira now claims she can’t get her money back. Responses from viewers have been a mix of sympathy and ridicule. Some even suspect that her story is completely false and that she is the one trying to scam viewers with a fake story to convince people to crowdfund for her.

It’s difficult to determine whether Keira’s story is true or not, but one thing is for certain: it’s important to always be aware of scams, and if something doesn’t feel right, it’s better to be safe and sorry. Those who are victims of fraud should contact the FBI as soon as possible.
