Pregnant server deals with a rude table. Then they refuse to pay and look past her to speak only to a male employee: ‘What’s going on?’

He ate half the food, then asked for a refund.

An alleged restaurant shift that began with a table refusing to order ended with one server wondering how much poor behavior restaurant staff are expected to tolerate.

TikTok creator @theycallme__blue, who says she was pregnant at the time, shared what she described as one of the most exhausting tables she encountered while working at the restaurant. According to the creator, the group’s complaints stretched from the moment they sat down until after they paid, culminating in one diner selecting the payment terminal’s cash-tip option before allegedly leaving without the promised gratuity.

She says the problems started before everyone in the party had even arrived. Two members of the five-person group reportedly sat down carrying large drinks from another restaurant and declined to order while waiting for the others. Each time their assigned server checked back, the customers allegedly told her she was bothering them and that they would call her over when they were ready.

Things only got worse once the full party arrived

That changed as soon as the rest of the group arrived. According to the creator, the diners began waving the server over while she was taking another table’s order and expected immediate service. Rather than abandoning her other guests, the server told them, “You’re gonna have to wait. You know, contrary to popular belief, you’re on my schedule. I’m not on your schedule, so I’ll get there when I get there.”

The creator claims the table continued to create delays while ordering and that tensions only grew once the food reached the table. One customer questioned whether another guest had received a larger portion despite being told each serving was measured and weighed. The exchange also stood out to the creator for another reason, becoming the kind of workplace interaction restaurant workers often recount on TikTok after difficult shifts.

She recalled stepping in after a newly trained male coworker admitted he didn’t know the answer. “Well, I can help. What’s going on?” she recalled asking as she approached the table. According to the creator, the customer looked at her before turning back to the male employee and continuing the conversation. Even after she explained that “everything in our restaurant is measured, weighed, and portioned out” and that the meals were the same size, the diner allegedly kept directing his questions to the male employee.

Reflecting on the exchange, the creator says, “The only thing I can fathom is that because the other, like, the new guy was a male and I was a female, he was just refusing to talk to me. I really don’t know.” She presents that as her own interpretation rather than a confirmed explanation for the customer’s behavior.

Many viewers said the staff had handled the situation as well as they could. One commenter asked, “At what point do you refuse service?” Another wrote, “People need to understand that restaurants work in a flow. If you disrupt that flow you’re going to the back of the line.”

A third admitted, “this story is precisely why I would last no more than 60 minutes as a server,” while another commenter added, “Being rude to the staff GETS YOU NO WHERE.”

According to the creator, the complaints continued throughout the meal. She claimed one diner rejected an entrée immediately after it was served and requested a different dish after seeing what everyone else had ordered.

Later, after eating roughly half of that replacement meal, the same customer allegedly argued the remaining portion was too tough to eat. The assigned server, she said, declined to remove the meal from the bill and instead offered a replacement or a box, consistent with restaurant policy.

The evening’s final dispute came during payment. The creator said the customer responsible for paying selected the handheld terminal’s cash-tip option and assured the server, “I’m gonna leave cash on the table. Don’t worry about it.” When the party left without any money behind, the server reportedly caught up with him and said, “You hit cash tip, and then you didn’t leave a tip.”

The alleged payment dispute was only the latest frustration in what the creator described as a difficult shift. Restaurant workers have increasingly turned to social media to document the interactions that stay with them after the dining room closes. That has also extended to tipping, including one account from an Olive Garden server who said an unusually generous gratuity led to a dispute with management.

According to the creator, the customer then claimed he needed change before eventually leaving a gratuity. She said the issue wasn’t whether he ultimately tipped, but that he selected the cash-tip option instead of simply choosing “no tip” if that had been his intention. She ended the video by outlining the plight of every person working as a server, “The restaurant industry is not for the weak.”
