Los Angeles woman accidentally won a full-sized elephant for $10 at auction. Then realizes she has only seven days to collect it: ‘I’m panicking’

A Los Angeles woman has gone viral on TikTok after she says she accidentally won a full-sized taxidermied African elephant on an auction site for just $10. The woman named Lucy, who posts under the username @lucy_june_, shared the news in a series of videos on TikTok that have racked up millions of views.

In her first video, Lucy explained the alleged situation using on-screen text over a clip of herself looking distressed. The video then cuts to a screen recording of the auction website, showing the listing for “Lot 271: Mount No Less” with a final sale price of “Sold: $10 USD.”

The on-screen text explained the situation: “POV: the saxophones start getting louder bc you accidentally purchased a full sized taxidermy elephant on an auction site for 10 dollars and you have to somehow pick it up in seven days.” In the caption for this video, Lucy wrote, “(Finally posted an update) Yes I did make two videos cuz I’m panicking.” 

The item is non-refundable and must be picked up within a week

Lucy posted a follow-up video with more details about the listing. The on-screen text of the first video read, “Guys I genuinely need help i accidentally won a full sized taxidermy African elephant on an auction site and I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.”

In her caption for that video, she wrote, “Part two is out It’s non refundable and I’m supposed to pick it up in seven days and idk what I’m supposed to do if you have any reccomendations on where to donate this thing ethically or what to do lemme know.”

The auction listing shown in the video is titled “Lot 2271: Extraordinary African Elephant Full Body Mount No Base US RESIDENTS ONLY.” It shows the item sold for $10 and marked with a green “Lot won” status, with Lucy’s “My Max Bid” also listed as $10. The listing is run by Kraft Auction Service, based in Evansville, Indiana, with an auction date of July 8, 2026.

The image on the listing shows a full-body taxidermy elephant as part of a larger display that also includes other taxidermy animals, including a lion cub and antelopes. In the video, the camera shows more images from the listing, including a partial item description that begins, “Gigantic Full Body African Bull Elephant Taxidermy…”

Lucy posted a third TikTok video addressing instructions she says she received about picking up the item. The on-screen text read, “So first you tell me I can’t have my elephant because you weren’t supposed to sell it. But now You send me instructions on How I should pick it up?? Make up ur minds bruh.” In the caption, she wrote, “Guys I didn’t actually want the elephant at first but now this is making me want it.”

That video also showed a screenshot of pickup instructions, which listed specific dates and time windows for collecting items, including “Taxidermy July 9th and 10th 9am-5pm, July 11th 9am-3pm, and July 13th-17th 9am-5pm.” 

The document warned, “PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF ALL AVAILABLE PICKUP TIMES. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO PICK UP YOUR ITEMS. WE STRONGLY SUGGUEST GETTING THESE ESTIMATES/ARRANGEMENTS PRIOR TO BIDDING.”

It also stated that items not picked up during the listed times “WILL BE DEEMED A FORFEIT AND NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED.” Contact details for two people, listed as Rod Scalf and Bobby McClintock, were included in the screenshot. The company’s strict pickup rules are standard for online auctions, as one Nashville woman discovered after buying a $19.99 golf bag at Goodwill. 

Some viewers questioned whether the elephant in the video was real, given the typical cost of taxidermy elephants. One commenter wrote, “I’m sorry I don’t 100% believe this.. taxidermy elephants cost about $60,000 from all the resources I can find…” Another asked, “are you SURE its the actual elephant and not just a poster of it? because there’s NO WAY.”

Other commenters offered advice on how Lucy should handle the situation. One person suggested, “genuinely speak to a museum, they know everything and more about shipping logistics.” The auction listing is an example of the unusual items that can appear on online marketplaces, like when a woman finds a makeup artist on Facebook Marketplace. 

Another, identifying themselves as a taxidermist, wrote, “hey I’m a taxidermist you need to call your local game warden and explained what happened and make sure your even allowed to have that in your state before you touch it.” A separate comment joked, “Ur gunna have to adress the elephant in the room at some point.”
