On-screen text in the TikTok clip reads, “Rare find: the mystery bag at Ross.” An off-screen narrator could be heard saying, “Rare find, the mystery bag at Ross.”

The footage first focused on a clear plastic bag resting on a white shelf. The bag appeared filled with small, dark, irregularly shaped objects and featured a black and red spigot-like cap on top. Visible markings on the bag included the code “TR4097” along with the words “PLAYTEK LLC MADE IN CHINA.”

Viewers offer theories after the bag’s spigot is turned on camera

A hand reached into the frame and touched the bag. The same hand then turned the red part of the spigot-like cap and pressed the bag. Then some soupy liquid type substance is seen getting out. The bag was placed back on the shelf afterward, giving a clearer view of its contents and the label. Mystery finds at stores can spark wild theories, like when a Texas woman spotted a confusing feature at H-E-B that left her speechless.

The camera later pulled back to show a wider section of the store aisle. Shelves appeared brightly lit and stocked with an assortment of consumer goods that included toys, craft kits, and household items typical of a Ross location. One commenter reacted to the footage by writing, “That’s discharge.”

Another viewer stated they had encountered a similar item and believed it was sanitizer. A different commenter suggested the bag held hand soap meant for bathroom dispensers. Such unexpected retail discoveries can leave shoppers baffled, like when a shopper discovers Costco’s 6 milk bag and the unfamiliar percentage leaves him completely stunned.

Some viewers suggested the bag had been moved from another part of the store. One wrote, “Yeah, I think somebody just stole that out of the bathroom there and left it on the shelves.” Another commenter linked the item to wall-mounted dispensers. They wrote, “i think that’s the refill bag for those hand sanitizer machines that are glued to the walls.”

Another commenter offered a different explanation, saying the contents seemed to be a bubble solution of some sort rather than hand sanitizer. They added that the company had briefly produced hand sanitizer during the COVID period, noted a December 2024 date of manufacture on a December 2024 stamp, and suggested that the “TR” marking was related to Toys R Us in the toy industry. One additional comment simply read, “drink it.”
