A new trailer for Ubisoft’s upcoming Splinter Cell: Blacklist has been released today and it shows off the various combat styles that the game will offer. Broken down into three categories: Stalk, Strike and Silence, we see the multiple methods in which protagonist Sam Fisher can dispose of his enemies.

Admittedly, there’s not much in the way of substance here but the trailer is certainly stylish and things definitely looks pretty slick and polished. The game will continue with the stealth/action hybrid style that was found in Conviction and judging by the footage seen here, gamers will have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to completing objectives in Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

As mentioned above, the main focus of the trailer is on the three combat styles that you can choose from while playing the game. Personally, I’ll go for stealth but if you’re more of the “Strike” type, feel free to run head first into the action. As the trailer says: “Your rules, your way.”

At the end of the trailer, we’re treated to a pretty awesome montage of Fisher just going around being a general badass, taking out enemies in every which way. There’s also a bit of the story thrown in here for good measure but the focus is clearly on the combat.

I’ve always been a fan of the series, despite a few low points. It usually delivers on some clever stealth/action gameplay and Fisher is one of gaming’s more iconic characters. From everything we’ve seen, I’m definitely excited for Blacklist. It looks like the team is doing a great job and with the release only a few months away, we’ll soon know if the final product delivers.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist releases on August 20th, 2013 for the XBOX 360, PS3, Wii U and PC. Check out the new trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments. Excited for the next game in the Splinter Cell series? Which way will you take out your enemies, Stalk, Strike or Silence?
